Advisors statement
Upstream Sustainability Services have been advising Hermes on their Responsible Property Investment Strategy for over 10 years.

We advise and support Hermes on all elements of the RPI programme, from supporting the property managers to developing the Emissions Trading Scheme. A significant part of our work is assisting Hermes to measure and monitor the performance of their portfolio by developing bespoke tools, guidance and minimum requirements.
Due to this long term and extensive relationship with Hermes and their Property Managers, we can confirm that in assisting Hermes with this report, all is being done to ensure that the data and information contained within are correct at the time of publication. Whilst this report has not been subject to a full and independent audit, we believe that the report is an accurate representation of Hermes’ approach to Responsible Property Investment and its evolving performance.

Hermes continues to be one of the leaders in the field of RPI, constantly challenging the status quo, and moving the industry forward. This is especially commendable considering the current market conditions, and we particularly recognise the company’s efforts to demonstrate how it creates real value from RPI in this Report.

The 2009 report is engaging and informative and, yet again, is an improvement on the previous year. We look forward to another year of working together with Hermes to achieve ever more exacting RPI standards.

Associate Director, Upstream Sustainability Services, Jones Lang LaSalle
